Dr Stone Hsieh

About

Dr Hsieh's research focuses on the associations of behaviours and environment with cognition, psychopathology, and mental health during development, as well as how different evidence-based interventions can address ADHD, psychopathology, and change eating behaviour. Dr Hsieh completed his PhD in exercise psychophysiology at National Taiwan Normal University in 2018. Afterwards, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Center for Cognitive and Brain Health at Northeastern University between 2019 to 2021. He joined Kingston UniversityLondon as a Lecturer in September 2021.

Research

In the Brain Resilience, Exercise, and Development (BREAD) Lab, we study 1) exercise as a behaviour intervention for children with ADHD, 2) the association between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and mental health during development, and 3) the psychological correlates of disordered eating behaviour. We use a cross-disciplinary approach to address these research questions. We also actively collaborate with local charities (e.g., ADHD Embrace, Gaming the Mind) and clinicians in the conceptualisation and delivery of research projects. Business, knowledge transfer and international

Under the support from the BIG South London Innovation Support Programme, Dr Hsieh worked with Kinetic Foundation, a local charity who uses football to promote education and career of young people. The goal of this collaboration was to leverage academic skills to help the charity to increase the accessibility and diversity of their football programme. This is a good example of knowledge exchange and how research can support business. Please find the link below for more story about this collaboration.
